Depending on the manufacturer, some companies will tell you to get an oil change at 3,000 - 5,000 miles and even up to 10,000 miles! The truth is, for every standard vehicle, the oil should be changed after a maximum of 5,000 miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first. Of course, you can have your oil changed early at 3,000 miles (or once a month), but most mechanics would agree that's likely a waste of money!
But definitely do NOT put an additional 10,000 miles on your vehicle without an oil change.
